Job summary

Carrollwood Day School is seeking positive, energetic individuals to join its Lower School Substitute Teachers team for grades 1–5 in Tampa, FL. These are hourly on-call, part-time positions with guaranteed shift minimums and a commitment to CDS missions and policies.

Responsibilities include following lesson plans, maintaining a conducive learning environment, managing classrooms, and reporting attendance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required.
• Full-time teaching experience with elementary aged children is highly desirable.
• Effective and respectful classroom management skills.
• Must present a positive attitude and professional appearance.
• Proficiency in Google suite of products and classroom technology.
• Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, including last minute assignments.

Responsibilities

• Carry out a program of study prescribed in the lesson plans left by the classroom teacher.
• Maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning for elementary students.
• Guide learning toward curriculum goals as indicated in the lesson plans.
• Employ appropriate instructional and classroom management methods and skills.
• Take attendance and report in accordance with school procedures.
• Perform duties such as lunchroom duty and other tasks for absent teachers.
• Ensure students are supervised and boundaries are maintained; follow CDS policies.

Well qualified candidates will be reliable, have classroom experience with Elementary aged children, and will be eager to engage with and guide diverse groups of students from day to day. Must be willing and able to model and maintain behaviors consistent with the CDS mission and policies of the school.These are hourly on-call/as needed part-time positions.
