Job summary

Carrollwood Day School is seeking substitute teachers for the Early Childhood Campus, serving ages two through Kindergarten. These are hourly on-call/part-time positions with a guaranteed shift minimum.

Ideal candidates will have classroom experience with very young children, a Bachelor’s degree, and the ability to work flexibly. A positive attitude, professional appearance, and reliable transportation are required, along with passing DCF and Level II background checks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required.
• Proficiency in the Google suite of products and classroom technology.
• Full-time teaching experience with young children is highly desirable.
• Effective and respectful classroom management skills.
• Must be able to pass DCF and Level II fingerprint background check.
• Must have dependable transportation.
• Flexible schedule, including last-minute assignments.
• Strong understanding of the academic, social, and emotional development of very young students.

Responsibilities

• Carry out a program of study prescribed in the lesson plans left by the classroom teacher.
• Maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning, and appropriate to the development of young students.
• Guide learning toward curriculum goals as indicated in the lesson plans.
• Employ appropriate instructional and classroom management methods and skills.
• Maintain a neat and orderly classroom; take attendance according to procedures.
• Ensure students are never left unattended or unsupervised; adhere to boundaries.
• Be prepared for emergency evacuation/ lockdown procedures as needed.
• Model and adhere to behavioral expectations for CDS students.
• Be a team player and assist with other duties and routines regularly.
