Summary of the Position:The Montgomery Academy Lower School focuses on the development of the whole child.Our physical education program serves students in Grades K-4 and lays the foundation for the work that students will do in the Middle School and Upper School PE classes. We are seeking an individual who creates a vibrant, joy-filled, student-centered environment that supports the physical development of each student.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Collaborate with fellow PE teaching colleague to plan and implement curriculum for daily physical education instruction for students in Kindergarten through the 4th Grade
• Use the Responsive Classroom approach to classroom management
• Effectively differentiate instruction to meet the various needs of students, including whole group, small group, and individualized instruction
• Create a sense of community and belonging among students where each individual student is celebrated for his or her identity and strengths
• Provide students with specific, actionable feedback and appropriate assessment
• Communicate with parents proactively, positively, and professionally to support the academic, social-emotional, and physical needs of students
• Actively engage in the school’s process of process growth and development
• Support our athletic department by coaching during at least two seasons
• Perform other duties to support the division and/or school as a whole

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree in physical education, education or appropriate degree (advanced degree preferred)
• Experience in teaching physical education (elementary level preferred)
• Athletic coaching experience preferred
