Job Description

Required Certificates and Licenses: North Carolina Teaching Certification with a Health/PE endorsement is required.

Residency Requirements: Must reside in North Carolina.

The High School Health and PE Teacher is a highly qualified, state-certified educator responsible for delivering course content online. Teachers provide instruction, support, and guidance, manage the learning process, and focus on students’ individual needs. They monitor student progress through Stride K12’s learning management system, work closely with students and parents/learning coaches, and typically work from home but may travel occasionally for school functions.

This position is for the 2025/2026 school year.

This is a full-time role requiring typically 40+ hours per week, with the ability to work independently from a professional home office during standard hours (e.g., 8-5 or 9-5).

  1. Provide engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences.
  2. Personalize learning for all students.
  3. Maintain high expectations and believe in student success.
  4. Differentiate instruction based on mastery levels.
  5. Use prescribed policies and tools to augment course content.
  6. Maintain grade books, make placement decisions, and communicate student progress.
  7. Prepare students for standardized tests.
  8. Establish positive rapport with families and communicate regularly.
  9. Support learning coaches/parents and troubleshoot issues in a virtual environment.
  10. Travel approximately once per month for professional development and testing.

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Active state teaching license
  • Ability to pass background check

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with the targeted age group
  • Support experience with adults and children using technology
  • Teaching experience in online and/or traditional settings
  • Familiarity with online platforms
  • Data analysis skills for instructional decisions
  • Receptiveness to coaching
  • Adaptability to change
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Quick learner of new technologies
  • Maintaining certification and professional development

Compensation & Benefits: Salaries are determined based on education, experience, qualifications, location, travel requirements, market, and internal valuation, typically in the lower half of the salary range.
