Job summary

Waterford School in Sandy, UT is seeking a part-time math tutor for the Lower School (K–V). Tutoring typically occurs two to three times per week for 45–60 minutes, during school hours and before/after school.

Responsibilities include teaching math strategies at each student’s level, communicating concepts in developmentally appropriate ways for ages 8–11, and maintaining Google Drive records. Reports are written each term and shared with families and teachers.

Part time math tutoring involves one-on-one and/or group tutoring with students in Waterford Lower School, grades K-V. Tutoring sessions usually occur two to three times per week. Sessions are approximately 45-60 minutes, and take place during school, before school and after school hours Monday through Friday. The tutoring position includes the following expectations:

• Ability to teach mathematicalstrategies to support students’ required math units and materials at students’ instructional level.
• Enjoy math and be able to communicatemathematical ideas and concepts in ways that are developmentally appropriate for 8 to 11 year olds.
• Develop and follow daily lesson plans that focus on individual student needs. Plans include building foundational skills outlined by student evaluation.

Communication with students’ parents and current teachers. Tutors are required to write two reports each term. The midterm report is brief, and its purpose is to establish goals, while the end of term report is more comprehensive and informative. Reports are shared with parents, homeroom teachers, and lower school head.A willingness to learn the skills necessary to maintaining Google Drive folders for all students and to becoming proficient in working with Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Calendar.Maintain a Waterford email and check it weekly for notes from Waterford Lower School head and more often for notes from reading director.Attendance at weekly tutor meetings.Training in the fall by the math director
