Job summary

Southern Association of Independent Schools, Inc. seeks a Head of Lower School for PreK–Grade 5. The role combines educational leadership with administration, reporting to the Head of School and shaping the division's vision.

The Head will lead curriculum alignment, literacy emphasis, and staff coaching while ensuring inclusive practices, strong family partnerships, and a vibrant school culture. Starts July 1, 2027.

Qualifications

• Experience leading elementary education and improving literacy, curriculum, and assessment.
• Proven ability to mentor teachers and drive professional development.
• Strong communication skills with families and staff, and budget oversight experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of an age-appropriate academic program for PreK–Grade 5.
• Organize staff, supervise classrooms, and align curriculum across grades.
• Support students with diverse learning needs and ensure transitions to Middle School.
• Foster a culture of trust, collaboration, and professional autonomy among faculty.
• Oversee Lower School master schedule, budgets, and capital planning.
• Maintain open communication with families and build community partnerships.
