Job summary

The Saint Constantine School in Franklin, TN, is seeking a dedicated Lower School Homeroom Instructor to guide foundational learning for elementary students. The role focuses on building skills across core subjects within a classical framework and nurturing curiosity in a supportive classroom.

Reporting to the Academic Dean, you will collaborate with Lower School faculty, establish a clear syllabus, maintain grade books, and uphold TSCS policies on equity and student wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Teaching experience in a classical, Charlotte Mason, or Waldorf school preferred.
• Extensive personal and/or professional experience in working with children.
• Excellent rapport with students of all ages.
• Strong alignment with TSCS philosophy and education approach.

Lower School Homeroom Instructor: Description and Responsibilities

The Lower School Homeroom Instructors responsible for the instruction of foundational understanding and skills in core academic and social areas for Lower School students.

The Instructor Will

• Work with the other Lower School faculty in establishing an appropriate sequence of skill acquisition.
• Teach students to approach the created world, their peers, and their academic subjects in a spirit of wonder, enthusiasm, and diligence.
• Model and encourage an understanding of core subjects.
• Establish and maintain a syllabus for the class that clearly outlines for parents the goals, learning outcomes, and work you expect the students to accomplish in the year.
• Maintain grade books for all students, updating grades and comments (when applicable) every two weeks or more.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required. Teaching experience in a classical, Charlotte Mason, or Waldorf school preferred. Extensive personal and/or professional experience in working with children. Excellent rapport with students of all ages. Strong understanding of the ethos and values of The Saint Constantine School philosophy of education and play.

Salary Classification: Full-time, exempt, twelve months
