St. Paul Academy and Summit School is seeking a Semester Leave Replacement Teacher for the 3/4 Homeroom in the Lower School.

St. Paul Academy and Summit School (SPA) is a coeducational, non-sectarian, college-preparatory day school serving more than 920 students in kindergarten through grade 12. Our two campuses are located approximately a mile apart in St. Paul, Minnesota, serving Grades K-5 on our Goodrich Campus and Grades 6-12 on our Randolph Campus. Status: Full-time, Exempt

Salary Range: $24,580 - $29,809 (Jan-Jun 2027), depending on experience

Department: Instructional Faculty, Long-term Leave Replacement Teacher, 3/4 Homeroom

Position Description:

Candidates should have experience teaching Lower School students in Upper Elementary grades (3rd/4th). Candidates should possess the ability to teach the full range of homeroom content areas, including literacy, mathematics, and social studies. In addition, candidates should demonstrate the ability to create developmentally appropriate curricula, establish a nurturing and engaging classroom environment for students, and work collaboratively with a teaching partner, various colleagues, and parents/guardians. Candidates should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, along with knowledge regarding best instructional practices in language arts, social studies, and mathematics. Preferred qualifications include previous experience with Responsive Classroom, Primary Math or Singapore math methods, Wilson Fundations, Readers/Writers Workshop, and Fastbridge assessments.

Requirements

A bachelor’s degree in education or a related field is required; a Master’s is preferred. We seek a candidate who has a demonstrated passion for teaching young learners and a track record of translating that passion into effective practices that encourage students to think creatively, engage deeply with ideas, and lead with intellectual curiosity. As importantly, we seek candidates who are committed to developing and practicing cultural competence in their teaching and who can operate effectively in diverse environments while interacting successfully with people from widely varying backgrounds. In addition, candidates should be able to:

• Establish a supportive and engaging classroom environment for students
• Differentiate instruction and materials to meet the needs of all students
• Work collaboratively with a teaching partner, other colleagues, and parents/guardians
• Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills with colleagues, students, and families; a collaborative style, an approachable demeanor, and a demonstrated ability to establish rapport and trusting relationships with people from diverse identities and cultural backgrounds.
• Utilize effective cross-cultural communication skills to operate effectively in diverse environments and interact successfully with people from widely varying backgrounds.
