Job summary

Discovery Schools in Baton Rouge is seeking a Lower School Dean of Students (PK - 4th Grade) with a Master’s degree in Education and 5+ years of teaching, counseling, or dean experience. The Dean will lead safe, student-centered culture, implement PBIS, monitor discipline, and partner with families to address needs.

The role requires working closely with the principal, teachers, families, and Student Support Services to ensure equity and accountability across the school community.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Education
• 5+ years of successful teaching/counseling/dean experience
• Experience implementing PBIS and MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports)
• Strong collaboration with teachers, families, and Student Support Services

Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation of Discovery Schools’ Behavioral Response and Intervention Framework and PBIS
• Monitor discipline and attendance data and ensure equitable application of policies
• Collaborate with counselors, social workers, SPED staff, and school leadership to support students
• Support proactive classroom management, restorative interventions, and MTSS as needed

Job description

Baton Rouge Ochsner Discovery seeks a Lower School Dean of Students (PK - 4th Grade) with Master’s degree in Education, 5+ years of successful teaching/counseling/dean experience. The Lower School Dean plays a critical leadership role in establishing and maintaining a safe, positive, structured, and student-centered school culture that supports academic achievement and the personal and social development of all students. Working closely with the school principal, teachers, families, and Student Support Services team, the Dean leads the implementation of Discovery Schools’ Behavioral Response and Intervention Framework, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), and schoolwide expectations aligned with our H.E.A.R.T. core values. This role is responsible for supporting proactive classroom management practices, responding to student behavioral concerns, facilitating restorative and corrective interventions, monitoring discipline and attendance data, and ensuring consistent, equitable application of school policies and procedures. The Dean works collaboratively with teachers to strengthen classroom culture, build positive student relationships, and implement effective behavioral interventions while partnering with families to address student needs and promote accountability. Additionally, the Dean collaborates with counselors, social workers, special education staff, and school leadership to identify and support students requiring additional interventions through a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS).
