Job summary

La Jolla Country Day School is seeking an Associate Educator for the Lower School to support lower elementary students. You will partner with lead teachers to plan and deliver differentiated instruction, support reading and math, and foster students' social-emotional growth.

The ideal candidate is student-centered, collaborative, flexible, and eager to engage families and colleagues in a warm, inclusive learning environment that emphasizes character as well as academics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Prior teaching experience, educational support experience, or work with children required.
• Strong math, writing, spelling, grammar, and communication skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
• Active Lower School environment requiring regular movement and supervision.

Responsibilities

• Support planning and implementation of curriculum and daily instruction with lead teachers.
• Provide instruction in whole-group, small-group, and individual settings.
• Lead intervention and enrichment lessons in reading, math, and other subjects.
• Review student work and provide feedback under the lead teacher's direction.
• Support students' academic, social, and emotional development through individualized instruction.
• Supervise students during arrival, dismissal, recess, and lunch.
• Assist with organization and maintenance of classroom materials and resources.
