Job summary

IDEAL School of Manhattan in New York, NY is seeking an Associate Teacher for the Lower School to join a collaborative teaching team.

You will implement differentiated instruction, support executive functioning, and foster social-emotional growth while building strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues. This is a full-time exempt faculty position starting immediately.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required.
• Willingness to learn in an educational environment.
• Commitment to inclusive learning and social justice.
• Desire to contribute time and talent beyond therapy sessions for student growth.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to assist a student with mobility needs, including wheelchair handling and adaptive equipment.
• Ability to collaborate as part of a team, with flexibility and a sense of humor.

Responsibilities

• Work as member of co-teaching team in an inclusive classroom to implement differentiated curriculum, establish classroom routines, and support all students.
• Become familiar with and implement the individual goals of their assigned student within the context of each class.
• Partner with lead teachers, related service providers, and other professionals on the implementation of support strategies across settings.
• Implement differentiated materials designed by the lead teacher to support assigned students access to the curriculum in all classes and activities.
• Gather necessary tools and facilitate their utilization.
• Communicate proactively with the family of the assigned student.
• Provide support for Activities of Daily Living as needed.
• Demonstrate flexibility supporting multiple students and attend required meetings.
