TransCore (TCI), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking a Low Voltage Technician Intern in the Tampa, Florida area. This is a 6-month temporary on-site position. Based on business needs and performance, this position may be converted into a full-time position.
This intern program provides hands‑on exposure to the operation, maintenance, and integration of low‑voltage ITS and tolling systems. Interns begin by supporting utility locates and preventive maintenance, assisting technicians with identifying underground infrastructure, inspecting equipment, and documenting system conditions. The program then advances to ITS and network operations, where interns gain experience with field devices such as CCTV, DMS, detection systems, and tolling equipment, while learning how these systems communicate through Layer 2 and Layer 3 networks. In the final phase, interns focus on toll system operations, assisting with inspections, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting of electronic toll collection infrastructure and observing real‑time responses to alarms and outages. Together, these phases build a practical understanding of how ITS and toll systems are maintained and kept operational in live transportation environments.
