Job summary

Team Fishel is seeking a Lead Low Voltage Technician III to oversee field operations on commercial and critical facilities. You will supervise installation crews, coordinate project execution, and ensure high standards of safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 5 to 8+ years of commercial low-voltage installation experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading installation crews on medium to large commercial projects.
  • Extensive experience with structured cabling, fiber optics, access control, CCTV, intrusion systems, and network infrastructure.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to pass required background checks and drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise field crews on commercial, industrial, healthcare, education, government, and mission-critical projects.
  • Coordinate daily work assignments, manpower, equipment, and material requirements to maintain project schedules.
  • Independently install, program, commission, and troubleshoot advanced low-voltage systems.
  • Lead installation of structured cabling, fiber optic backbone systems, access control, IP video surveillance, intrusion detection, intercom, paging, wireless infrastructure, and network equipment.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting of network connectivity, PoE devices, controllers, fiber optic systems, and integrated technology platforms.
  • Oversee copper certification, fiber testing, OTDR testing, fusion splicing, and commissioning activities.
  • Interpret construction drawings, specifications, one-line diagrams, and project documentation to ensure accurate installations.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, customers, general contractors, inspectors, and other trades to resolve field issues and maintain project schedules.
  • Conduct daily jobsite safety meetings and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, NEC requirements, BICSI standards, and company safety policies.
  • Verify installation quality through inspections, punch list completion, testing documentation, and customer acceptance.
  • Track project progress, labor productivity, material usage, and report status to project leadership.
  • Mentor and train Technician I and Technician II personnel through hands-on coaching and skills development.
  • Assist with estimating field labor, identifying change orders, and recommending process improvements.
  • Ensure all as-built drawings, testing reports, commissioning documents, and closeout packages are completed accurately.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with customers while providing exceptional service and technical support.

Description

Position Summary: The Low Voltage Technician III (Lead Technician) serves as the field leader responsible for overseeing daily jobsite operations, supervising installation crews, coordinating project execution, and ensuring all low-voltage systems are installed, tested, commissioned, and delivered to the highest standards of safety and quality. Preferred Qualifications

  • BICSI Technician or higher certification.
  • OSHA 30 Certification.
  • Manufacturer certifications such as Verkada, Genetec, LenelS2, Avigilon, Axis Communications, CommScope, Panduit, or equivalent.
  • Fiber optic fusion splicing and OTDR certification.
  • Advanced networking knowledge including TCP/IP, VLANs, switching, PoE, and IP addressing.
  • Experience commissioning integrated security systems.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Work from ladders, scaffolding, aerial lifts, rooftops, and confined spaces.
  • Bend, kneel, climb, crawl, and work in varying environmental conditions.
  • Travel to multiple project sites with occasional overnight travel.
