Structured Cabling | Security | Access Control | AV Systems

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Full‑Time

Pay Range: $25 - $40 / hr

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Low Voltage Technician / Foreman to oversee and perform the installation, testing, and commissioning of low voltage systems. This role is hands‑on and field‑based, with responsibility for leading a small crew, coordinating daily tasks, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to specification. The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge, leadership skills, and the ability to communicate clearly with both field staff and project management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise a team of low voltage technicians on job sites
  • Install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot low voltage systems, including:
    • Structured cabling (Cat5e/Cat6/fiber)
    • Access control systems
    • CCTV and security systems
    • Fire alarm support (where applicable)
    • AV and communication systems
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and project drawings
  • Coordinate daily work plans, assign tasks, and monitor progress
  • Ensure installations meet code requirements, manufacturer specifications, and company standards
  • Perform system testing, commissioning, and documentation
  • Maintain job site safety and enforce safety procedures
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, general contractors, and customers
  • Track materials, report shortages, and assist with ordering as needed
  • Mentor and train apprentice technicians
Qualifications & Experience
  • 5+ years of hands‑on low voltage installation experience
  • Prior experience leading crews or acting as a lead technician
  • Strong knowledge of low voltage systems, cabling standards, and testing procedures
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications
  • Excellent problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications
  • Industry certifications (BICSI, NICET, manufacturer certifications, etc.)
  • Fire alarm experience or licensing
  • Fiber termination and testing experience
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
