Job summary

ABLE COMMUNICATIONS INC in Grand Prairie, TX is seeking a Technician responsible for installation, termination, testing, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of low-voltage cabling and related systems in commercial and industrial environments.

You will read blueprints, install copper and fiber cabling, route cabling, perform testing and certification, maintain safety standards, and coordinate with foremen and project teams to meet specifications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Technical training or certification in telecommunications, structured cabling, electronics, electrical, or related field preferred.
• Previous experience in low-voltage, telecom, structured cabling or related field preferred.
• Experience with copper and/or fiber-optic cabling preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance required.

Responsibilities

• Install, route, terminate, label, test, troubleshoot, and repair low-voltage cabling and related systems.
• Install copper and fiber-optic cabling, connectors, patch panels, racks, and cable management systems as required.
• Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, cable schedules, wiring diagrams, and project specifications.
• Perform cable testing and certification using appropriate testing equipment.
• Coordinate work activities with foremen, project managers, customers, contractors, and other trades.

Job Details: Job Location: GRAND PRAIRIE, TX 75050, Position Type: Full Time, Position Summary The Technician is responsible for the installation, termination, testing, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of low-voltage cabling and related systems. This position works in commercial and industrial environments and supports the installation of structured cabling, telecommunications, data, voice, and other low-voltage infrastructure in accordance with project specifications, applicable codes, safety requirements, and company quality standards.

Principal Accountabilities

• Install, route, terminate, label, test, troubleshoot, and repair low-voltage cabling and related systems.
• Install copper and fiber-optic cabling, connectors, patch panels, racks, cable management systems, and related components as required.
• Install J-hooks, cable tray, ladder rack, conduit, sleeves, and other pathway and support systems as required.
• Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, cable schedules, wiring diagrams, and project specifications.
• Perform cable testing and certification using appropriate testing equipment.
• Identify and resolve cabling, connectivity, and installation issues.
• Verify installations meet project specifications, applicable codes, industry standards, and company quality requirements.
• Coordinate work activities with Foremen, Project Managers, customers, contractors, and other trades.
• Maintain accurate documentation of cable installations, testing results, labeling, and other project information.
• Report material shortages, installation issues, safety concerns, and project conflicts promptly.
• Maintain tools, equipment, materials, and work areas in a clean and organized condition.
• Follow company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and customer/site-specific safety procedures.
• Provide professional customer service and communicate effectively with customers and project personnel.
• Maintain productivity and workmanship standards to support project schedules and labor budgets.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Job Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
• Technical training or certification in telecommunications, structured cabling, electronics, electrical, or a related field preferred.
• Previous experience in low-voltage, telecommunications, structured cabling, electrical, or a related field preferred.
• Experience with copper and/or fiber-optic cabling preferred.
• Relevant manufacturer or industry certifications are a plus.
• Valid driver's license required or ability to obtain one prior to employment.
• Valid automobile insurance required.

Typical Physical and Mental Demands

The position may require long hours, handle conflicts, and make decisions under pressureand in inclement weather situations.
