Job Title: Low Voltage Structured Cable Technician Level 1

Location:

Long Island-based with work in New York, New Jersey & PA

Company Overview:

Coranet Corp. is seeking a Level 1 Cable Technician to join our Field Service teams. The Technician will work under Lead Cable Technicians on Coranet's structured cabling teams to install low-voltage projects, including structured cabling, access control, physical security, wireless, and AV projects across Long Island, with some work in New York, New Jersey, and PA.

Position Overview:

A Technician I works with moderate supervision and guidance from higher classifications, installing, testing, and troubleshooting telecommunication systems. Candidates should have familiarity with telecommunications installation and hold relevant certifications, willing to accept guidance and critique.

Required Experience:

1. Experience with copper (CAT5e/CAT6) and fiber (single mode/multi mode) cable: rough-in, labeling, terminations, testing.
2. Experience with copper patch panels: dress-in, terminations, labeling, testing.
3. Patching according to customer switch matrix.
4. Using Fluke Networks or equivalent copper/fiber cable testers/analyzers.
5. Working with General Contractors and other trades.
6. Receiving and inventorying project materials.
7. Assembling LAN racks, grounding, cable runways, and trays.
8. Extending carrier POTS, T1, cable TV circuits.
9. Working in new or existing client environments.

Qualifications:

• Ability to pass pre-employment screening.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Dexterity and hand/eye coordination.
• Ability to work at heights with proper fall protection.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools.
• Ability to climb stairs, ladders, scaffolds.
• Physical ability to walk, stand, bend, lift up to 50 lbs., and drive.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Availability for off-hour assignments.
• Copper or fiber certifications (e.g., CommScope, Corning).
• OSHA 30 Certification.
• SST Card.
• Ability to operate with minimal supervision.
• Access to a vehicle and willingness to travel across NJ, PA, and Metro NY.
• Willingness to work weekdays, nights, and weekends.

Working Conditions:

• Work may be indoors or outdoors under various environmental conditions.
• Travel may be required based on client needs and project scope.
• Exposure to noisy, dusty conditions, chemicals, solvents, and hazards.
• Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with support outside these hours as needed.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.
