Job Responsibilities:

1. Experience as a Data Cable Technician
2. Proper installation and routing of CAT5e, CAT6, and Fiber Optic cables
3. Strong background in cable routing, terminating, and troubleshooting
4. Installing Wireless Access Points
5. Installing cable support structures (ladder racks, j-hooks, innerduct)
6. Comfortable working on lifts (scissor and boom lifts)
7. Extending, troubleshooting, and maintaining data circuits & telephone lines
8. Setting up computer hardware and installing/customizing telecommunications software
9. Projects may include Phone Systems, Structured Cabling, Computer Networking, Access Control, IP Video Surveillance, and A/V Systems in various environments
10. Familiarity with troubleshooting and maintaining these systems
11. Performing detailed site surveys for clients
12. Maintaining a safe work environment by following codes and regulations
13. Reading and understanding blueprints and plans
14. Working in fast-paced environments
15. Lifting at least 40 pounds
16. Willing to travel up to 50% with per diem for overnight travel

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2+ years’ experience in installation/maintenance of voice and data systems in a commercial setting
• Reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Self-starter attitude
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Experience working in structured cabling environments, including working from ladders, lifts, and confined spaces
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
• Ability to use hand and power tools
• Ownership of basic telecom tools (snips, crimp tools, punch down tools, cable testers, cordless drill, etc.)
• Familiarity with BICSI, EIA, TIA, or NEC standards
• Flexibility to work various shifts
• Experience with Access Control & Fire Alarm systems is a plus
• MUST HAVE a reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license
• Background check required
