Job summary

Next Level Technician is seeking an Assistant Project Manager for low voltage/structured cabling in Houston (and Colorado City, TX). The role blends project management with field work, coordinating schedules, materials, and site readiness to keep projects on track.

You will support PMs and field teams, communicate updates, and help manage BOS, site access, and closeout tasks. The position offers weekly pay, benefits, and growth opportunities within a national low voltage staffing company.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Manager with scheduling field personnel, resources, and project activities
  • Monitor project schedules and assist with adjustments as project conditions change
  • Assist with preparing material requisitions based on approved Bills of Materials (BOM)
  • Coordinate project tasks with material availability to support schedule requirements
  • Monitor and evaluate material inventory to help keep projects on schedule
  • Evaluate site readiness and identify potential issues that could impact project execution
  • Coordinate site access, badging, and required personnel documentation
  • Coordinate testing equipment and specialized equipment needed for project schedules
  • Monitor project and site quality to ensure NCS standards and customer expectations are met
  • Perform assigned project tasks and assist with field execution as needed
  • Provide hands-on coaching and On-the-Job Training (OJT) to field personnel
  • Assist with technical and skills training during new employee onboarding as requested
  • Prepare final as-built markups for customer drawing packages
  • Assist with project closeout documentation and obtaining customer sign-off
  • Provide daily project status updates and reports as required
  • Attend site meetings, project walkthroughs, and customer meetings as requested
  • Communicate project progress, risks, delays, and potential issues to the Project Manager and stakeholders
  • Collaborate with Project Management, Estimating, field teams, customers, contractors, and internal departments
  • Follow all NCS policies, procedures, safety requirements, and project standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned

The Assistant Project Manager (APM) supports Project Managers and field teams in the successful planning and execution of NCS projects. This is a hybrid project management and field position where you'll help coordinate projects, materials, scheduling, site readiness, field execution, and project closeout. As the project's "eyes in the field", you'll monitor project progress, identify potential issues, communicate updates, and work closely with Project Management, Estimating, field personnel, customers, and contractors.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction, industrial, telecommunications, low voltage, or another related blue-collar industry with a demonstrated record of achievement
  • Construction or project coordination experience preferred
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team
  • Ability to work in both office/project management and field environments
  • Ability to learn and effectively use new software and technology
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications preferred
  • Comfortable using mobile applications and technology in the field
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability and willingness to travel as required
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Must successfully complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening
