Job summary

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) seeks a Materials and Process Engineer to support composites manufacturing facilities in San Diego, CA.

You will interface with engineers to advance processing and fabrication methods for advanced composite materials, providing technical support to lay-up, bonding, and field personnel. Responsibilities include developing LO-minimizing materials, evaluating new materials for low observable applications, and guiding design reviews.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in engineering with progressive experience.
  • Experience in Low Observables or Advanced Signature Technologies.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
  • Strong written and oral communications; leadership potential.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement materials and processes for LO minimization.
  • Conduct research on materials and technologies for low observables.
  • Create test plans and coordinate coupon testing for material properties.
  • Support material selection and LO feature implementation.
  • Partner with manufacturing and quality teams to develop RM&S plans.
  • Provide guidance for repairs, rework, and sustainment of LO features.
