Job summary

Garmin Ltd. in Miramar, FL seeks a full-time Audio Engineer 2 to develop moderately complex loudspeaker solutions and model parts using CAD/FEA tools, test and validate designs, and contribute to mass production.

You will collaborate with Electrical, Industrial, and Process Engineers, perform design reviews, conduct listening tests, estimate tooling and part costs, and mentor junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering with 1 year of relevant experience.
• Excellent academics: GPA ≥ 3.0.
• Proficiency with CAD software to model moderately complex parts.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Eligible for registration as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Alberta.

Responsibilities

• Interface with Electrical, Industrial, and Process Engineers to negotiate tradeoffs between manufacturing, appearance, and performance.
• Communicate effectively with vendors that produce custom mechanical parts.
• Demonstrate knowledge of injection molding, die casting, sheet metal stamping, vacuum forming, machining processes, etc.
• Demonstrate familiarity with Garmin product qualification tests (environmental and others).
• Mentor less experienced Audio Engineers (Audio Engineer 1).
• Apply urgency and ownership to develop solutions in a timely fashion.
