Job summary

Actalent is seeking an experienced Controls Systems Engineer / LOTO Lead to support commissioning and startup in a large-scale manufacturing environment. You will serve as the site’s LOTO and Electrical Safety Lead, hands-on with PLC programming, commissioning, and automation integration.

You will work across multiple facilities with engineers, technicians, and contractors to ensure safe startup and reliable operations of automated systems. This contract role is based onsite in Boise, ID.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Controls, or Automation Engineering or equivalent.
5+ years in industrial controls, automation, or commissioning.
Experience leading Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) programs in industrial environments.
Strong knowledge of zero-energy verification and electrical safety procedures.
Heads-on experience with Siemens PLC platforms and PLC programming.

Responsibilities

Lead and coordinate LOTO activities across multiple facilities and project teams.
Perform zero-energy verification and electrical isolation validation prior to commissioning.
Review and approve LOTO procedures and energy isolation processes.
Conduct electrical safety inspections in line with NFPA 70E and site standards.
Serve as primary electrical safety resource during startup and commissioning.
Modify, troubleshoot, and support Siemens PLC programs and automation systems.
Support commissioning, startup, and integration of equipment and control systems.
Troubleshoot controls hardware, instrumentation, and networks.
Assist with HMI/SCADA modifications using AVEVA/Wonderware.
