Job summary

Wegmans in Sterling, VA is seeking a team member to maintain the appearance and safety of the parking lot, gather shopping carts, and pick up trash while engaging customers with a friendly smile and eye contact. You will proactively offer assistance as weather requires.

You will contribute to a positive, service-oriented shopping experience, helping guests during inclement weather and supporting the Wegmans commitment to people-first, with strong benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Friendly communication and approachable demeanor during customer interactions.
• Ability to provide proactive assistance and upsell or offer services when appropriate.
• Experience in hospitality, retail, or food service environments is advantageous.

Work Environment: The physical demands of this work are classified as light to medium. Work includes standing, walking for long periods, bending, pushing and pulling, moving, and lifting, along with continuous interaction with customers and coworkers in a fast-paced environment. May be asked to work at regular cash register station (see Cashier).The average weight range of items lifted, pushed, or pulled is 20 - 35 pounds with a maximum weight lifted of 50 pounds rarely. Upper extremity repetition is moderate and trunk movement involves moderate twisting, bending, and pivoting. May be exposed to various allergens (things that may cause an allergic reaction). The work environment is mostly outdoors with seasonal outdoor temperatures and weather. Basic tools and equipment used include shopping carts, Billy Goat, Mart Cart, snow blower, shovel, property maintenance equipment.; Collective customer service experience, internally and/or externally preferably in a food service, grocery or retail setting
