Job summary

ShopRite of Gateway Center in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a Store Detective to protect assets and provide a safe, customer-focused shopping environment. Responsibilities include detecting theft, using loss prevention tools, and maintaining store security.

Candidates must be able to read and speak English, stand for long shifts, lift up to 50 lbs, and work varied hours. This role requires excellent situational awareness and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, speak, analyze, and understand English.
• Ability to stand/walk for the duration of a shift.
• Ability to repeatedly lift 25 lbs. and occasionally 50 lbs.
• Ability to tolerate dust and cleaning agents.
• Ability to work in varying temperatures.
• Ability to travel to store locations if needed.
• Ability to interact with customers in a friendly and helpful way.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others.
• Ability to work all assigned shifts and follow attendance policies.

Responsibilities

• Utilize Loss Prevention reporting and applications to identify and minimize loss.
• Detect and apprehend customers, associates, and vendors for theft.
• Represent the company in criminal actions arising from incidents.
• Participate in special investigations as assigned.
• Report vulnerabilities and recommendations to store leadership.
• Maintain store security and observe safety standards.
• Greet customers and provide prompt, courteous service and assistance.
• Maintain knowledge of item locations and store layout.
• Adhere to shrink guidelines and company policies.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
