The Loss Prevention Associate supports Duke Stores by protecting University assets through proactive CCTV surveillance, theft detection, and incident response. This position plays a key role in maintaining a safe and secure retail environment for students, staff, faculty, and visitors while ensuring compliance with University policies and applicable laws.
• Monitor and review CCTV systems across Duke Stores locations to identify suspicious activity, theft, and operational concerns.
• Conduct real‑time surveillance of sales floors and high‑risk areas to proactively detect and deter shoplifting and internal shrinkage.
• Respond to theft incidents by following established Duke Stores and University protocols, including the safe detention of subjects when appropriate.
• Partner with store management and staff to support theft prevention efforts and ensure awareness of loss prevention best practices.
• Document all theft, safety, and security‑related incidents in a timely manner using clear, accurate, and detailed written reports.
• Preserve and manage video evidence for internal review and, when necessary, coordination with Duke University Police Department.
• Assist in identifying trends, patterns, and vulnerabilities to support shrink reduction strategies.
• Maintain professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
• Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
