West Bend Mutual Insurance Company is seeking a Loss Control Representative to cover the Greater Raleigh/Durham area, working from a home office. The role conducts onsite risk assessments, develops service plans, and collaborates with underwriters to assess risk and secure new business.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in safety or loss control, strong interpersonal and presentation skills, and a commitment to coaching peers. Travel within NC is required, with some weekend trainings as needed.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in safety, loss control or related field.
• Experience servicing large/complex accounts with minimal guidance.
• Willingness to coach and mentor and engage with peers.
• Experience with a multi-line insurance carrier.
• Proficient with Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Conduct onsite risk assessments and provide service to prospect, new quotes and existing accounts.
• Develop service plans and provide recommendations to reduce loss exposure.
• Consult with underwriters to determine account risk acceptability and communicate findings.
• Deliver training presentations to business clients, large groups or associations; some sessions may be weekends.
• Manage a field territory in the Raleigh/Durham area, including home-office work arrangements.

Job Summary

West Bend is looking for a Loss Control Representative to join our growing team.

Conduct onsite calls to provide risk assessments and service to prospect, new quote and existing accounts. Risk Assessments include physical surveys, investigating risk exposures/accidents, analyzing risk experience, developing service plans and providing recommendations. Consult with underwriters to determine account and risk acceptability. Provide verbal and written correspondence to underwriting. Work with agents to foster and develop relationships and to secure new business. Effectively manage a service territory, work with customers to ensure safety planning is in place and conduct training presentations to business clients, large groups, or associations. Training presentations may be conducted in-person, and occasionally on a weekend.

Work Location

This position is field based, covering Raleigh/Durham area in North Carolina, and involves working from your home office. The ideal candidate should either reside in the Raleigh/Durham region or be willing to relocate to serve this area.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in safety, loss control or related field
• Demonstrates independence by servicing large/complex accounts of various classes of business with little guidance and shows the ability to successfully address and reduce loss drivers
• Demonstrates a willingness to coach and mentor co-workers, take on advanced projects, engage with internal and external peers to solve problems, attend professional development conferences and/or is involved with professional associations to expand their network
• Previous experience working for/with a multi-line insurance carrier
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Proven interpersonal, presentation, marketing, oral and written communication skills
• Problem solving, critical thinking, active listening, negotiation and decision-making skills
• Valid driver's license required

Preferred Education and Training

• Bachelor's degree in Loss Control, Risk Management, Safety, Insurance or related field
• Designation in safety, health or insurance (CSP, ASP, ARM, CRM, CIC, CPCU, etc.)
