Job summary

Pendleton County Schools is seeking an Extra-Curricular Mentor/Transitional Trainer for Long-Term Substitute Teachers. Compensation is $40.00 per hour, with up to 3 hours per month. The role works outside the regular school day and reports to the school principal or designee.

The trainer will onboard new staff, coach substitutes, and provide guidance on policies, procedures, and routines to improve instructional effectiveness and student engagement.

Qualifications

• Valid West Virginia Professional Teaching Certificate.
• Minimum of three years of successful teaching experience preferred.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and coaching skills.
• Ability to provide constructive feedback in a positive and professional manner.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional relationships.

Responsibilities

• Orientation and School Integration: help substitutes become familiar with school expectations and procedures.
• Professional Support and Coaching: provide ongoing guidance and feedback outside instructional hours.
• Instructional and Classroom Support: assist with lesson planning, differentiation, and student engagement.
• Resources and Problem-Solving: identify instructional resources and liaise with county departments.
• Documentation and Compliance: maintain mentoring logs and submit required documentation.
• The mentor will address topics such as initial orientation, instruction and assessment, communication, student support, county processes, and professional growth.
