Greenwich Public Schools seeks a long-term substitute school social worker from approximately January 4, 2027, through approximately March 31, 2027; the position carries full salary and benefits for the duration of the assignment.

Responsibilities include coordinating with interdisciplinary teams, conducting assessments, and developing intervention plans to support students and families within a school setting. CT certification is required.

Formación

• CT Certification, or certifiability, as a school social worker (#071) required.

Responsabilidades

• Manage, monitor, and facilitate the work responsibilities of school social workers.
• Perform casework services with students and families to help resolve behavioral and social problems.
• Select and administer age-appropriate assessment methods to determine the needs of students.
• Consult with teachers and other school personnel regarding the reason for referral.
• Gather background information on a student's social history through observations, home visits, interviews, and records.
• Submit comprehensive socio-cultural assessment reports that address the reason for referral and include recommendations.
• Serve as a member of the interdisciplinary assessment team and participate in placement decisions, developing intervention plans, and planning programs.
• Communicate case findings and recommendations to teachers and school staff as needed.
• Participate in PPT or 504 meetings and contribute to the development of the IEP.
• Conduct counseling sessions to address emotional, social, and behavioral needs of students.
• Liaise between student, home, school, private counseling facilities, and community resources; provide follow-up and re-evaluation.
• Act as a member of the school crisis team to provide intervention.
• Make court appearances to present data and perform court-requested evaluations.
• Compile monthly reports and maintain accurate case records.

Position Summary

School social workersperformspecialized social work in an educational setting to enable students to achieve optimal learning. They collect, interpret, and synthesizeinformation about a student's social history, community environment, family dynamics, economic differences, and significant crises that influence academic and behavioral functioning, working cooperatively as an interdisciplinary team member to provide services and to devise an appropriate service plan for referred students and their families.

Responsibilities

• Manage, monitor, and facilitatethe work responsibilities ofschool social workers
• Performcasework services with students and families to help resolve students' behavioral and social problems

• Serveas a member of the interdisciplinary assessment team assigned to each school and workas a team member in making placement decisions, developing intervention plans, and planning programs to meet the special needs of children
