Job summary

The Montgomery County Intermediate Unit in Norristown, PA is seeking a Long-Term Substitute School Counselor to join the Office of Student Services. Valid PA Certification in School Counseling K-12 is required.

The role supports career readiness and workforce development across students, teachers, and administrators. Responsibilities include individual and group counseling, developing education plans, and monitoring student progress.

Qualifications

• Valid PA Certification in School Counseling K-12 required.
• Knowledge of Act 339 planning and implementation and Act 158 graduation requirements.
• Experience with secondary school population preferred.
• Experience working in a residential facility for youth and young adults preferred.
• Current police, child abuse and FBI Fingerprint clearances required.
• Clearance as an MA provider by the Commonwealth of PA and federal government (conducted by MCIU upon hire).

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance and counseling services to students, specifically in career readiness and developing workforce readiness skills.
• Program includes personal, academic, career development, counseling and consultation services to students, teachers, and school administration.
• Provide individual and group sessions with a focus on career readiness, workforce development skills, consultation services, and training.
• Prepare comprehensive education plans for individual students based on transcripts and desired goals and outcomes of student.
• Monitor educational plans for students and provide support and guidance as needed to assist students to meet their goals and desired outcomes.

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, 7.5 hours/day, 10 months (194 days/year)

Salary

• Bachelor's, Step 1: $53,997/year
• Master's, Step 1: $65,007/year
• Placement on salary schedule based on experience and/or education beyond the Master's Degree.
