Chattanooga Christian School (CCS) is seeking a dedicated Lower School 3rd Grade Long-Term Substitute to provide consistent classroom instruction during a teacher's leave of absence. This temporary role supports students in 3rd grade, maintaining routines and engaging lessons while collaborating with staff to ensure continuity of learning.

The position begins in late January or early February 2027 and ends before the school year concludes.

Position Term: This temporary assignment is expected to begin in late January or early February 2027 and conclude before the end of the school year. The exact end date is still to be determined.

Position Overview:

The Lower School 3rd Grade Long-Term Substitute provides consistent classroom instruction and support during the regular teacher’s leave of absence. This position is responsible for maintaining a positive and engaging learning environment, supporting students’ academic and developmental needs in 3rd grade, and collaborating with grade-level colleagues and school staff to ensure continuity of instruction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Plans and delivers instruction in alignment with established curriculum, lesson plans, and grade-level expectations.
• Maintains established classroom routines, procedures, and expectations.
• Creates a positive classroom environment that is conducive to student learning and development.
• Assesses student learning, grades student work and assessments, and maintains accurate records in MyCCS.
• Communicates with parents and guardians as appropriate regarding student progress and classroom matters.
• Collaborates with grade-level colleagues and Exceptional Education staff to support student needs.
• Performs assigned supervisory duties, including recess and lunch supervision.
• Takes reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Participates in meetings, training, and other professional responsibilities as required by the principal.
• Performs other duties consistent with the position as assigned by the principal.

Qualifications:

• Commitment to the mission of CCS and agreement with the CCS Statement of Faith
• Bachelors Degree
• Previous experience working with children/youth in an academic setting preferred
• Familiarity with CCS preferred
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to exercise discretion and utmost professionalism in confidential and sensitive student matters

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

• Requires vision to read small print.
• Requires the mobility to stand, stoop, reach and bend. Requires mobility of arms to reach and dexterity of hands to grasp and manipulate small objects.
• Requires the ability to stand for extended periods.
• Requires the ability to walk long distances.
• Requires lifting, pushing, and/or pulling which does not exceed twenty-five pounds and is an infrequent aspect of the job.
• Is subject to normal inside and outside environmental conditions.
• Mental acuity to perform the essential functions of this position.
