  • Master's degree in Curriculum & Instruction, Educational Leadership, or a content-specific area is preferred.
  • Valid elementary (K-5) teaching certification is required.
  • Reading Specialist, ESL, or Special Education certification is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of successful K-5 classroom teaching experience.
  • Experience providing direct instructional support or co-teaching is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to use data to inform instruction.

Responsibilities

  • Provides small-group pull-out instruction aligned with district standards.
  • Uses research-based instructional methods aligned with curriculum and state standards.
  • Regularly assesses student progress and adjusts instruction based on data.
  • Partner with classroom teachers to plan and deliver instruction for all students.
  • Model effective teaching strategies during co-teaching and planning sessions.
  • Collaborate with intervention teams, special education, and support staff to align services.
  • Analyze formative and summative assessment data to identify student needs and monitor progress.
  • Maintain detailed records of participation, performance, and growth in intervention groups.
  • Support teams in using data to inform instruction and differentiate strategies.
  • Assist with implementation of district curriculum and instructional materials.
  • Align small-group instruction and co-teaching with objectives and learning standards.
  • Support vertical and horizontal alignment across grade levels.
  • Strong understanding of K-5 curriculum, instruction, and intervention practices.
  • Effective small-group and co-teaching instructional skills.

Job Summary

The K-5 Instructional Specialist provides targeted, direct instruction to students in small group settings to address academic gaps, extend learning, and support differentiated instruction in allcoreacademic areas. Working collaboratively with classroom teachers, the specialist also supports instructional best practices through data analysis, and curriculum alignment to enhance student achievement.

Job Goal

To effectively support and accelerate the academic achievement of students in grades K-5 byidentifyinglearning gaps, implementing targeted interventions, and collaborating with classroom teachers to ensure all students meet or exceed grade-level standards in reading, writing, and math.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in educationor related field (required).
  • Master's degree in Curriculum & Instruction, Educational Leadership, or a content-specific area (preferred).

Essential Functions
Direct Instruction

Collaboration & Coaching
  • Partner with classroom teachers to plan and deliver instruction that meets the needs of all students, including those performing below, on, or above grade level.

Data & Assessment
  • Analyze formative and summative assessment data toidentifystudent needs andmonitorprogress.

Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands

Visual acuity and hearing arerequiredfor the delivery of assessment, intervention, and consultation services. Occasional lifting of materials and equipment of less than 25 pounds may berequired. The ability tomaintainemotional control under stress and work with multiple deadlines, a variety of people and personnel, and frequent interruptions isrequired.
