Job summary

Avon High School in Avon, Connecticut seeks a Long Term Substitute High School Art Teacher. Applicants must hold CT PK-12 Art certification (042) or be eligible, and possess a degree in Fine Arts or Education with art concentration. Position reports to the building principal.

Position Title: Long Term Substitute HighSchool Art Teacher

Qualifications:

• Must possess or be eligible for Connecticut State Department of Education certification for PK-12 Art (042).
• Degree from an accredited college or university in Fine Arts, or Education withart as the concentration.

Reports to:Building Principal and/or designee

Compensation:In accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between the association and the Board of Education. Depending on education and experience salary ranges from $368.13-$682.21 per day. Eligible for benefits after 40 school days of service. Benefits include PTO, health, dental and vision insurance.

Work Year: Position begins February 2, 2027, and ends onJune 10, 2027 (the last day of the 2026/27 fiscal year)

Responsibilities:The Art Teacher has the followingresponsibilities as listed below and other duties and responsibilities as shall be assigned by theBuilding Principal and/or designee:

• Prepare instructional resources and assessments that support the delivery of the Avon Public School'sArt curriculum.
• Develop and implement lesson plans, unit plans, and educational projects to ensure students’ academic development.
• Provide differentiated instructional strategies and assessment and/or modify the curriculum to meet the learning needs of students with structured learning plans (IEPs and 504s)
• Provide support to all learners who require additional help or guidance with academic problems and concepts.
• Other responsibilities as defined by the building principal or designee.
