Job summary

Banks Trail Middle School in Fort Mill, SC seeks a long-term substitute Special Education Teacher for approximately 60 work days from October 15, 2026 to January 27, 2027. The role requires a valid South Carolina teaching certificate with the appropriate SPED endorsement and a Bachelor's degree.

Reports to the Principal and Special Services Director, supervises students and assistants, and aligns with district expectations. Position is full-time and based on site at Banks Trail Middle School.

Qualifications

• This position requires a valid SC teaching certificate with a specified endorsement in the assigned area.
• Candidate must hold at least a Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university.
• Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily as described in the job posting.
• Applicants with teaching experience must have an acceptable evaluation rating.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement an instructional program for each student.
• Plan and deliver lessons in alignment with school policies and regulations.
• Collaborate with staff, parents/guardians and community representatives.
• Maintain records, progress charts, and mandated forms for substitutes.
• Monitor student progress and adapt activities to different learning needs.
• Adhere to FERPA guidelines and ensure confidentiality.
• Attend meetings and in-service trainings as required.
• Assist students with personal care needs as necessary to enable participation.
