Job summary

Gower School District 62 seeks a Long Term Substitute Special Education Teacher to support students at Gower West Elementary School. This per diem role covers FMLA leave, with collaboration across general education and special education teams to implement IEPs and data-driven interventions.

Qualifications

• Illinois Professional Educator License with Learning Behavior Specialist I Endorsement.
• Ability to develop and coordinate individualized academic, behavioral and social programming based on IEPs and progress data.
• Provide individual educational and behavioral support to improve academics and behavior.
• Assist general education teachers with instructional and behavioral strategies to facilitate access.
• Provide training, consultation and support to staff working with students with special needs.
• Supervise paraprofessional staff in SPED classrooms.
• Willing to serve on committees and coach student activities.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate good character.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with general education teachers, related-service providers, paraprofessionals, administrators, and families to implement IEPs.
• Lead or coordinate the work of other staff and share resources across departments.
• Work independently within district guidelines while supporting student progress.
• Use data to inform actions and ensure progress toward IEP goals.
