  • Assist general education teachers with instructional and behavioral strategies to facilitate access.
  • Provide training, consultation and support to staff working with students with special needs.
  • Supervise paraprofessional staff in SPED classrooms.
  • Willing to serve on committees and coach student activities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

SKILLS: The position requires skill in delivering specially designed instruction, administering and interpreting assessments, developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), using relevant technology and software, maintaining accurate records, and communicating effectively with students, families, staff, and service providers.

KNOWLEDGE:The position requires knowledge of special education laws and regulations, including IDEA; age-appropriate instructional practices; child development; curriculum and lesson planning; progress monitoring; behavior-management strategies; and the development and implementation of Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).

ABILITIES: The employee must be able to organize meetings and activities; collect, analyze, and interpret student data; develop appropriate action plans; maintain confidentiality; adapt to changing priorities and student needs; exercise sound professional judgment; and establish positive, collaborative relationships with students, families, colleagues, and community partners.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The employee works independently within district guidelines while collaborating with general education teachers, related-service providers, paraprofessionals, administrators, and families to support student progress and implement IEPs. The position may include leading or coordinating the work of other staff and using resources across departments to meet student needs.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The position generally requires approximately 30% sitting, 30% walking, and 40% standing. Duties may involve lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, crouching, sitting on the floor, and assisting students with school-related tasks. The employee must be able to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally. The position is typically performed in a school environment and may include exposure to food, cleaning products, specialized materials, and minor temperature variations.

Salary: $285.64 per diem in Accordance with the Gower Education Association Collective Bargaining Agreement
Position Available: Anticipated 01/05/2027 through 03/10/2027
