Job summary

Connex Education is actively seeking an experienced School Caretaker to join a welcoming school in Bath for a long-term temporary period, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

The role requires prior caretaker experience, strong maintenance and health & safety knowledge, and the ability to manage site safety and reporting. DBS checks will be required, and immediate start is available.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a School Caretaker is essential.
• Experience carrying out general maintenance and caretaking duties.
• Good knowledge of health and safety procedures.
• Ability to identify and report site issues.
• Reliable, organised, and able to work independently.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proactive approach to maintaining a safe and well-presented school environment.
• Ability to build positive relationships with school staff, pupils and visitors.
• Understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.
• Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance and caretaking duties across the school site.
• Ensure the school buildings and grounds are safe, secure, and well maintained.
• Complete routine checks and report any maintenance or safety concerns.
• Carry out minor repairs and basic maintenance where required.
• Support the opening and closing of the school site.
• Assist with health and safety checks and ensure site procedures are followed.
• Maintain clean, tidy, and presentable external areas.
• Work closely with school staff to respond to site-related issues.
• Support contractors and visitors attending the school when required.
• Help maintain a safe and welcoming environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.
