Job summary

Avon Public Schools seeks a Long Term Sub Paraeducator for Thompson Brook School to support students with IEP needs. You will work under the supervision of special education and classroom teachers to assist identified students and participate in implementing individualized plans.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or higher, and the ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, and families. Availability through December 2026 with a regular school schedule is required.

Qualifications

• The para-educator should have a high school diploma, the equivalent thereof, or higher.
• Willingness to take direction and communicate with staff, students and community members.
• Ability to work with students with diverse needs as part of IEP goals.

Responsibilities

• Supports identified students as indicated on the IEP.
• Works with groups or individuals under the direction of a special education or classroom teacher.
• Assists with daily living activities as needed to support participation in class.
• Implements student behavior plans and collects data relevant to IEP goals.
• Maintains confidentiality and adheres to school schedules and policies.
• Participates in staff meetings and collaborates with IEP team members.
