Job summary

Ledyard Middle School is seeking a Long Term Substitute Mathematics teacher beginning in December and anticipated to continue through the end of the school year, based on district needs. Qualifications

• CT teaching certification: Mathematics, 7-12 (029).
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching middle school students preferred.
• Evidence of ability to work cooperatively with administrators, teachers, support staff, and parents.
• Success using a variety of teaching styles that facilitate independent and group learning activities.
• Ability to organize and coordinate work.
• Promotion of a positive learning environment responsive to and respectful of the needs of students.
• Enthusiasm for teaching and learning.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences in mathematics.
• Promote critical and creative thinking and analysis.
• Cultivate perseverance through consistent application of problem-solving skills.
• Maintain contact with parents and school personnel as needed to evaluate students' academic and social growth.
• Communicate effectively orally and in writing with a variety of people, including students, their parents and staff.
• Accept and incorporate suggestions for classroom improvement.
