Dayton Early College Academy (DECA) seeks a Long-Term Middle School Math Substitute Teacher/Advisor to support students with individualized learning goals and provide consistent instruction aligned with DECA’s mission. • Valid Ohio teaching license for middle school or related subject.
• Experience as substitute teacher preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as positive role model for students and families.
• Assess student academic, social, and personal strengths and needs.
• Develop meaningful relationships with each student and parent/guardian.
• Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside of traditional hours.
• Implement, by instruction and action, DECA Middle’s mission.
• Know and align goals to content area standards as defined by Ohio DOE.
• Celebrate student accomplishments and monitor progress.
• Hold students accountable for academic progress.
• Advocate for students and families; forecast educational needs.
• Plan instructional program that meets individual needs and interests.
• Report progress through quarterly reports, calls to parents, and weekly meetings.
• Attend faculty meetings and professional development.
• Facilitate additional academic, social, and health services as needed.
• Mediate student conflicts and maintain records as required.
• Employ varied instructional techniques to achieve goals.
• Collaborate with school team on intervention strategies.
• Provide supplementary activities to support growth.
• Ensure use of standard materials (planners, journals).
• Perform other duties as assigned by the principal; pursue professional growth.
