Dayton Early College Academy (DECA) is seeking a long-term middle school math substitute teacher to support students across advisory groups. You will tailor instruction to individual needs and monitor progress, reporting to the principal.

The role requires an Ohio teaching license or substitute license, strong classroom management, and the ability to collaborate with staff. This position offers a temporary assignment aligned with DECA's mission and values.

Qualifications

• Valid Ohio teaching license for assigned grade/subject or Ohio Substitute Teaching License.
• Prior relevant experience preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with children and adults.
• Knowledge of state and national standards and IDEA rules.
• Sound classroom management skills.
• Ability to improvise and work through uncertainties.
• Experience with technology integration in teaching and learning.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a positive role model for students.
• Assess student academic, social, and personal strengths and needs.
• Develop meaningful relationships with each student and family.
• Be available to students and parents outside of traditional hours when required.
• Implement DECA Middle’s mission and goals.
• Plan instructional activities that meet individual student needs.
• Report student progress through quarterly reports and communications.
• Participate in staff meetings and professional development.
• Strive to continually improve professional competence.
