Job summary

St. Louise de Marillac School in Covina, CA, seeks a long-term substitute to cover maternity leave for 6th–8th grade Math (Algebra 1) and Religion for 6th grade.

The candidate must be a practicing Catholic and commit to faith-based, standards-driven instruction within a supportive, faith-centered culture. Responsibilities include leading 6th grade homeroom, using Google Classroom, differentiating instruction, assessing progress, and collaborating with faculty to promote student growth and school

Qualifications

• Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education.
• Bachelor’s degree in education, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Valid California Teaching Credential or ability to obtain appropriate certification.
• Experience teaching middle school mathematics.
• Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Uphold the mission, philosophy, and teachings of the Catholic Church while serving as a positive Christian role model for students.
• Teach Middle School Math (6th grade math, 7th grade math and 8th grade Algebra 1) and Religion to 6th grade using engaging, standards-aligned instruction that promotes critical thinking
• Serve as the 6th Grade Homeroom Teacher, fostering a supportive and positive classroom community.
• Use of Google Classroom to post classroom assignment and lesson notes
• Implement lessons as designated by the regular classroom teacher
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students and provide appropriate interventions and enrichment.
• Assess student learning through a variety of formative and summative assessments, maintain accurate records, and communicate student progress regularly with families.
• Establish and maintain a positive, safe, organized, and respectful classroom environment
• Collaborate with faculty, administration, and staff to support student success and school-wide initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal
