Job summary

The Long-Term Substitute Teacher for English at Proviso Math & Science Academy will cover for an absent teacher, delivering the planned lessons and maintaining a positive learning environment.

Reports to Building Principal; start date around 08/11/2026 with a daily rate of $160 (increasing to $220 after 20 consecutive days). This position is not eligible for benefits; location is Forest Park, IL, within Proviso Township High Schools District 209.

Qualifications

• Substitute License or Professional Educator License (PEL) is required.
• Endorsement for Grades 9–12 Illinois licensure is required.
• Valid Illinois PEL or Educator License with Stipulations (ELS) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Cover for the absent teacher/counselor for an extended period.
• Deliver lesson plans as instructed and maintain a positive learning environment.
• Ensure safety and wellbeing of all students and manage classroom conduct.
• Maintain attendance records and communicate with staff and administration.
• Assist with emergencies and adapt to individual learning needs.
