Job summary

Greenspire School in Traverse City, MI, is hiring a Long Term Special Education Substitute Teacher to support high school students (grades 6–12) with certified special education endorsement. Under the direction of the Head of School, you will plan and deliver instruction, design project-based units, and collaborate with instructors to connect disciplines and real-world issues.

You will develop IEPs, provide accommodations, monitor progress, maintain records, and participate in school events

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education; master’s degree preferred.
• Valid Michigan secondary teaching certification with Special Education endorsement.
• Experience with students with disabilities and IEP development.
• Strong knowledge of best practices in special education.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans aligned to standards.
• Develop assessments and evaluate student performance.
• Develop and implement IEPs for students with special needs.
• Deliver direct instruction in various settings (one-on-one, small group, co-taught).
• Collaborate with general education teachers and staff to include students with special needs.
• Monitor and adjust progress and maintain records.
• Stay up-to-date on best practices in special education.
• Participate in school events and maintain a safe learning environment.
