Qualifications

• Valid New York State Teaching Certification.
• Previous experience in the Diesel Technology field.
• Ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Teach the Diesel Technology program (New Visions) during instructor absence.
• Instruct students in career/technical skills and employability skills.
• Instruct per NYS standards and district procedures.
• Plan and develop goals, objectives, curricula, and reports.
• Develop lesson plans and organize time for instruction and lab work.
• Demonstrate materials and tools using models and aids.
• Guide students in selecting appropriate activities.
• Provide individual and group instruction tailored to students.
• Instruct on safety and proper operation of tools and equipment.
• Assist with materials storage and budget adherence.
• Maintain classroom conduct for an orderly environment.
• Collaborate with academic teachers to integrate curricula.
• Coordinate contacts with business community for internships.
• Communicate with employers, parents, and counselors about progress.
• Identify pupil needs and assist with problem solving.
• Encourage continuation of formal education and employment awareness.
• Supervise pupils in activities during the day.
• Attend faculty meetings and participate in advisory committees.
• Share in sponsorship of student/club activities as needed.
• Coordinate schedules with clinical facilities (e.g., hospitals).
• Assess pupil performance and prepare progress reports/grades.
• Maintain accurate student records.
• Research bid specs; requisition books and equipment within budget.
