Qualifications

• Valid New York State Teaching Certification.
• Experience in the Diesel Technology field.
• Ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Teaches career and technical skills and employability skills to prepare students for work or post-secondary education.
• Instructs pupils in citizenship and basic communication following NYS standards and district procedures.
• Plans and develops goals, objectives, curricula, and reports.
• Develops lesson plans and organizes time for instruction, shop activities, and cleanup.
• Demonstrates career and technical materials, tools, and processes with models and aids.
• Guides pupils in choosing and performing appropriate activities.
• Provides individual and group instruction aligned to pupil needs and activities.
• Instructs pupils on safety precautions and proper tool operation.
• Maintains materials and property to prevent loss or misuse.
• Maintains classroom conduct standards for a safe learning environment.
• Collaborates with academic teachers to integrate curricula.
• Establishes industry contacts for internships and job opportunities.
• Communicates pupil progress with employers, parents, and counselors.
• Assesses pupil needs and supports learning and attitude improvements.
• Encourages continuation of formal education and employment awareness.
• Supervises pupils in related activities during the school day.
• Attends faculty meetings and participates in program advisory committees.
• May sponsor student activities and coordinate with external sites for training.
• Coordinates schedules and clinical sites with partner facilities.
