Job summary

Young World Physical Education is seeking a Long-Term Substitute Teacher for 2nd Grade Bilingual instruction at Pleasant Acres Elementary in Rantoul. The position starts on August 12, 2026, and offers a daily rate of $243.36.

Long‑Term Substitute Teacher – 2nd Grade Bilingual Teacher – Pleasant Acres Elementary

General Qualifications
  • Professional Educator License or Substitute Teaching License issued by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE)
  • Strong communication skills – written and oral
  • Preference for previous substitute experience with Rantoul City Schools
  • Fluent in Spanish and English
  • Ability to provide instruction in Spanish for the entire school day
Staff Member Duties
  • Fill long‑term substitute teaching needs, including lesson planning (with assistance from administration and teachers) and assessment of student progress and grades
  • Attend parent‑teacher conferences, trainings, and meetings as needed
  • Communicate with parents after consulting with administration, sharing updates on academic or behavioral progress
  • Supervise students in a variety of school‑related settings
  • Follow available lesson plans and instructions; create plans when none are provided using classroom resources and teacher collaboration
  • Establish positive learning expectations for all students
  • Maintain accurate student attendance records
  • Promote student growth in self‑discipline and positive self‑concept; ensure fairness and respect in teacher‑student relationships
  • Manage classroom organization and clean rooms at the end of the day
  • Provide end‑of‑day communication to teachers, including ratings of lesson plans and instruction left by the teacher
  • Modify instruction to meet student needs and work effectively with pupils, parents, staff, and community representatives
  • Apply contemporary teaching principles and practice sound professional judgment
Other Duties
  • Follow district procedures for reporting absences if assigned a classroom and unable to fulfill duties
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
Mental Demands
  • Effective communication with parents, colleagues, administration, and the educational community
  • Maintain emotional control under stress
  • Use web‑based programs, e‑mail, and technology (laptop, Smartboard, etc.) effectively
Working Conditions
  • Indoor classrooms and school environments with exposure to student noise, lawn mowing, music, food odors, mowed grass, and potential communicable diseases
  • Outdoor schoolyard and grounds, including field trips and variable temperatures (hot, warm, cool, cold)
  • Regular work attendance required
Salary and Benefits
  • $243.36 per day for the length of the assignment
  • Sick/personal leave: 1 sick day accumulated each continuous month worked and 0.25 personal day accumulated each continuous month worked
Dates of Position

The duration may vary depending on the district’s ability to fill the position with a qualified teacher. The position will begin on August 12, 2026 and will terminate once a fully‑certified teacher is hired. The district will provide advanced notice to the substitute teacher when possible.
