Job summary

Selby Jennings is recruiting a Long/Short Equity Analyst focused on TMT or Industrials for a premier hedge fund in New York. You will work directly with a Portfolio Manager, conducting rigorous research and building detailed financial models to support differentiated long and short theses.

The role requires at least 5 years in equity research or investing, with proven L/S experience, strong modeling and presentation skills, and the ability to generate independent investment ideas from day one.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of investing, equity research, or relevant industry experience covering TMT or Industrials.
• Prior Long/Short Equity investing experience is required.
• Strong financial modeling, valuation, accounting, and analytical skills.
• Demonstrated ability to develop independent investment views and generate actionable ideas.

Responsibilities

• Conduct deep fundamental research and financial analysis across your coverage universe.
• Develop and present differentiated long and short investment ideas.
• Build and maintain detailed financial models and industry frameworks.
• Monitor industry trends, competitive dynamics, and key catalysts impacting investment theses.
• Utilize expert networks, industry contacts, and proprietary research resources to generate unique insights.
• Partner closely with the Portfolio Manager and contribute to investment discussions and portfolio decisions.
