JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Logistics Warehouse Specialist to join the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State University to support a Department of Defense (DoD) Joint Program. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the shipping and receiving of critical supplies and equipment to both CONUS (Continental United States) and OCONUS (Outside Continental United States) locations, ensuring compliance with DoD regulations and policies. This position requires a proactive problem solver who can work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.

This position will be located in San Diego, CA.

You will:

  • Assist in the development and execution of logistics plans, policies, and procedures to support the DoD Joint Program objectives
  • Maintain accurate inventory records, track the movement of assets, and conduct periodic inventory audits to ensure accountability and compliance with DoD regulations
  • Prepare and process all required shipping documentation, including DD Form 1348, Material Inspection and Receiving Reports (MIRR), and Commercial Bills of Lading (CBL)
  • Manage the receipt, storage, and shipment of materials and equipment to support DoD Joint Program requirements in accordance with established guidelines and procedures.
  • Implement and maintain an efficient warehouse layout to optimize storage capacity, workflow, and safety
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely delivery of shipments to both CONUS and OCONUS locations
  • Ensure compliance with hazardous material (HAZMAT) shipping regulations and safety procedures, including proper packaging, labeling, and handling of materials
  • Collaborate with program management and procurement teams to resolve any shipment discrepancies, damages, or other logistical issues
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance warehouse operations, inventory management, and overall logistics performance
  • Operate material handling equipment (MHE) such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and conveyors to load and unload shipments and move inventory within the warehouse, as needed

Minimum requirements include a Bachelor's degree plus 4 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A degree in supply chain management, logistics, or a related field preferred.

Required skills/experience areas include:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in logistics, warehousing, or supply chain management, preferably in a DoD or military environment
  • Knowledge of DoD regulations, policies, and procedures related to logistics and material management
  • Experience with shipping and receiving hazardous materials (HAZMAT) in compliance with applicable regulations
  • Proficient in the use of material handling equipment (MHE) and warehouse management systems (WMS)
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a Secret Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required)
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. with or without accommodation and perform physical tasks as needed in a warehouse setting

Preferred Qualifications include:

  • Prior military experience in logistics, supply chain management, or warehousing
  • Relevant experience within U.S. Navy (LS, SK), Marine Corps (MOS 3043, 3051, 3052), or Army (MOS 92A, 92Y) positions
  • Familiarity with military and DoD logistics processes and regulations

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$46,400.00 - $67,300.00
