Job summary

Hackbarth Delivery Service Inc. is seeking a Transportation and Logistics Manager for our Pelham, Alabama facility. The role oversees all terminal operations, including driver pay, P&L, and customer interaction, with support from a Regional Director.

You will lead a diverse team, manage budget targets, and drive continuous improvements across safety, service, and cost efficiency. Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least five years of terminal management

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred in logistics, business, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years in terminal/logistics management.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Experience with safety and regulatory compliance.
• Experience with vendor and cost negotiations.

Responsibilities

• Lead terminal staff including supervisors and warehouse personnel.
• Oversee loading/unloading, inventory, and equipment maintenance.
• Ensure safety compliance and implement protocols.
• Maintain customer relationships and provide timely updates.
• Manage resources to optimize performance and control costs.
• Generate regular terminal performance KPIs for leadership.
• Drive process improvements and best practices.

About the Role

The Logistics Terminal Manager will be responsible for 100% of all aspects of the facility Operation, including, but not limited to, all drivers pay and negotiations, full P&L responsibility, daily customer interactions, all decisions regarding the customer's and organization’s requirements. The position has support from a Regional Director. Also, fully responsible for the financial results of the facility’s operation, including efficiency, cost as well as pricing issues consulting the Regional Director or Executive team, as appropriate.

Key Responsibilities:

• Team Leadership: Lead and motivate a team of terminal staff, including supervisors, warehouse workers, and administrative personnel.
• Operational Oversight: Oversee all terminal operations, including loading and unloading, inventory management, and equipment maintenance.
• Safety Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to safety regulations and implement safety protocols to minimize workplace accidents.
• Customer Service: Maintain excellent customer relationships by addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and providing timely updates.
• Resource Management: Manage resources efficiently, including labor, equipment, and materials, to optimize terminal performance.
• Cost Control: Monitor and control operational expenses to meet budgetary targets while maximizing efficiency.
• Reporting: Generate regular reports on terminal performance, productivity, and KPIs for senior management.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance terminal efficiency.
• Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including environmental, safety, and transportation laws.
• Growth: Responsible for implementing new business generated by sales team and working with sales to identify potential customers

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field (preferred).
• Proven experience in terminal management or a related logistics role (minimum of 5 years).
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• In-depth knowledge of logistics and supply chain operations.
• Proficiency in using logistics and inventory management software.
• Knowledge of safety and regulatory requirements in the logistics industry.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
• Contract negotiation experience.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft applications.
• Availability to work flexible hours as needed.

Base Salary: $75,000.00 – $80,000.00

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to work 8, 10, 12-hour shifts.
• Quarterly Bonuses Eligible.
• On-Call duties are required.
• Must have weekend availability.
