Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Warehouse Supervisor in Richardson, TX to oversee receiving and shipping operations, ensure accurate inventory, and drive Lean improvements. You will manage daily activities of material handlers and clerks, coordinate shifts, and ensure compliance with safety and documentation standards.

The role requires 4–6 years in logistics with 2–3 years in leadership, strong WMS/ERP experience, and a focus on process optimization in a manufacturing or distribution setting.

Qualifications

  • 4–6 years of experience in warehouse or logistics operations, with 2–3 years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or logistics center environments.
  • Familiarity with handling and documentation for high-value electronic components.
  • Bachelor's or Associate degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of WMS and ERP/MRP transaction processing.
  • Understanding of dock operations, material handling, and import/export documentation requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises areas including receiving, distribution, traffic, finished goods picking, shipping, and inventory control.
  • Directly supervise daily activities of material handlers and clerks in Receiving or Shipping.
  • Manage shift scheduling, workload distribution, and resource allocation.
  • Oversee unloading, inspection, recording, and put-away of inbound materials.
  • Resolve discrepancies with Purchasing and Quality teams.
  • Manage outbound logistics, including final packaging, carrier staging, and documentation.
  • Review shipment docs for compliance with customs and trade laws, escalating complex issues to the Logistics Manager.
  • Ensure all material transactions are recorded in the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and ERP/MRP.
  • Directly support the Inventory Analyst by investigating transaction errors related to receiving or shipping processes.
  • Enforce all company safety protocols, procedures, and material handling policies.
  • Conduct daily safety briefings and ensure secure handling and storage of all materials and finished goods.
  • Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies within the receiving or shipping process.
  • Implement and sustain continuous improvement initiatives using Lean methodology (e.g., 5S, error-proofing) to enhance throughput and quality.

  • Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:
  • Supervises some areas including receiving, distribution, traffic, finished good picking, shipping, offsite warehouse, packaging supplies and control of inventory.
  • Directly supervise and organize the daily activities of material handlers and clerks within the designated area (Receiving or Shipping).
  • Manage shift scheduling, workload distribution, and resource allocation to ensure efficiency.
  • Oversee the accurate and timely unloading, inspection, system-recording, and put-away of all inbound materials.
  • Ensure immediate resolution of discrepancies with Purchasing and Quality teams.
  • Manage outbound logistics, including final packaging, carrier staging, and documentation.
  • Review and verify all shipment documentation (inbound and outbound) to ensure compliance with customs regulations and trade laws, escalating complex issues to the Logistics Manager.
  • Ensure all material transactions are accurately and immediately recorded in the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and ERP/MRP.
  • Directly support the Inventory Analyst by investigating transaction errors related to receiving or shipping processes.

Requirements
  • 4 to 6 years of experience in warehouse or logistics operations, with a minimum of 2-3 years in a formal supervisory or team lead capacity.
  • Direct experience in manufacturing, distribution, or logistics center.
  • Familiarity with managing the handling and documentation for high-value electronic components is required.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong practical experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and transaction processing in ERP/MRP systems.
  • Solid understanding of dock operations (shipping/receiving), material handling best practices, and basic import/export documentation requirements (e.g., Incoterms, HTS codes).
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and train operational staff in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a wide variety of internal and external customers.
