Our work depends on people who communicate clearly, follow through and keep improving the way we serve customers and one another.
Position Summary
Continental Expedited Services (CES) is seeking a driven, customer-focused Logistics Specialist to join our Operations team. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Respond to customer freight opportunities, prepare competitive pricing, negotiate rates, and follow up on outstanding quotes.
- Manage awarded shipments from acceptance through final delivery while maintaining proactive customer communication.
- Source and secure qualified carrier capacity using company assets, partner carriers, and brokerage resources.
- Negotiate carrier rates while balancing service requirements, available capacity, and gross-margin expectations.
- Dispatch shipments and communicate pickup, delivery, appointment, and customer requirements to carriers and drivers.
- Track active shipments and provide timely pickup, in-transit, delay, and delivery updates.
- Identify potential service failures and respond to carrier fall-offs, breakdowns, missed appointments, delays, and other shipment exceptions.
- Coordinate US/Mexico cross-border shipments, including carrier handoffs, documentation flow, customs-broker coordination, and border activity.
- Maintain accurate shipment information, pricing, statuses, documentation, and operational notes within the TMS and applicable portals.
- Provide complete shift handoffs for unresolved or time-sensitive issues requiring continued monitoring.

- Ability to manage multiple active shipments and competing priorities simultaneously.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Comfortable communicating directly with customers, carriers, drivers, and internal teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, email, transportation systems, customer/carrier portals, and similar business technology.
Preferred
- Previous experience in freight brokerage, expedited transportation, dispatch, carrier sales, logistics, or transportation operations.
- Experience in asset-based and/or brokerage transportation environments.
